I began teaching English Composition as a graduate student at Colorado State University in 1974. I had a two course/quarter load, and was hired to teach summer courses as well. I was awarded my Masters Degree in 1975. During the 1975 - 1976 academic year, I taught undergraduate creative writing and literature courses at the University of Colorado on a part-time basis. During the 1976 -1977 academic year I taught composition at the University of Colorado as a graduate student. In the fall of 1977 I moved to Philadelphia and taught composition courses on a part time basis for several institutions including Camden County College and Philadelphia Community College. In the fall of 1978 I began teaching English full time at Spring Garden College. Over the next five years I taught composition courses, literature courses, and supervised the remedial English lab.

In 1983 I returned to graduate school at Temple University in the Radio, Television, and Film Department, working toward a Master of Fine Arts degree. I taught television production and screen writing as a graduate student. After being awarded my degree in 1985, was hired to teach screen writing on a part time basis in 1987 and 1988. For the 1989 - 1990 academic year, I was hired by Temple's RTF department to replace a professor on a year-long sabbatical. I taught film production, screen writing, and documentary history.

From 1988 to 1998 I worked as an adjunct professor at Drexel University in their Media Arts program, teaching Screenwriting and Film and Video Production courses. In 1998, I started teaching at the University of the Art in the Writing for Film and Television Program as an adjunct professor, and continue there at present teaching a two-semester course on the history of narrative cinema. In the spring of 2002, I taught playwriting at Temple University. Since 2003 I have also taught playwriting and dramaturgy at Arcadia University.

I have also taught in the University of Pennsylvania's Young Writers at Penn program in 1991 - 1994.
